Living in Tübingen
Tübingen is an old university town in the state of Baden-Württemberg; the University of Tübingen was founded in 1477 AD. The University and research institutions such as the Max Planck Campus make the city a young and lively one. Of its 83,000 inhabitants, about one quarter are students. Thus, there are a lot of cultural and entertainment opportunities normally only found in much larger cities. The city center is well known for its quaint medieval architecture and filled with a wide selection of restaurants and bars, offering both local Swabian specialties and international.
Its location on the Neckar river and its proximity to the Black Forest, the Swabian Alb and the Schönbuch Nature Preserve make Tübingen a favorite of outdoors-oriented people.
For international students wishing to learn German, the school offers attractive subsidies for language classes.
